THE RECENT RISE IN BREAK-INS OF NORTH WEST SPORTS CLUBS

Sports clubs across the North West are moving towards better security solutions as thefts from small and medium sized clubs have risen dramatically in 2017. Sports clubs face an increase in insurance bills and huge one-off repair costs.

Thefts are largely being blamed on gangs who are damaging property and stealing equipment -everything from match shirts to mowers. This has led to the movement towards investing in CCTV, alarm systems and mobile patrols.

Clubs such as Lancashire’s Darwen Cricket Club have been targeted by burglars and have since focused on improving their security equipment. Wallasey Junior Football Club is another club that has been hit – costing the Wirral team £2,500 in damages.

Solutions for these somewhat random attacks include liaising with the local neighbourhood watch and the police, ensuring valuables and equipment are locked away, investing in CCTV systems and alarms, and seeking the service of mobile patrols when the premises are most at risk.

Clubs have seen a rise of insurance premiums by as much as £400 following a theft which make it hard for northern sports clubs to survive. Investing in Security Solutions such as CDX Security’s CCTV Systems, fencing, keyholding and mobile patrols gives that piece of mind and keeps premiums low.

John Roddy, CDX Security’s Managing Director, has seen this issue first hand. During 2015 John Roddy donated four cameras to Ashton Bears after a break-in which led to a re-construction of the club house. The amateur Rugby League club sought help from the Security industry to help prevent repeat incidents, which many other sports clubs are following suite.

Christian Roddy, Director of CDX Security said, “The Senior Management Team at CDX have an extensive background in semi-pro sports. We have seen how a break-in can not only damage the short-term health of a club but how it also affects its fans and volunteers.

“We believe a sufficient security system for a premises can be the difference in whether a sports club survives a tragedy like a burglary, or not. Mobile patrols and CCTV systems provide that deterrent against organised gangs and is vital for all clubs. We work closely with customers to analyse the risks and recommend the correct solution for their requirement.”

At CDX Security, we think it's important that local businesses help local clubs with their facilities. CDX Security are backing sports club both on a community and professional level and we are proud to be supporting Woolston Rovers, Ashton Bears and Folly Lane A.R.L.F.C through the 2018 season.
